The Skeeter Johnston & Jack Fields Memorial Scholarships are dedicated, respectively, to the memory of Summerfield “Skeeter” Johnston Jr., who loved these mountains and is a cherished family member and friend—and to Jack Fields, who never turned down an alpine-lake-dip and whose love of life and adventure is infectious.

“Growing up as a low income, first-generation student, I was obsessed with horses from a young age but had few chances to interact with them. The financial barriers to horses were so daunting that I gave up on accessing them early in life. With the aid of a generous scholarship, I was able to participate in the Riding and Writing expedition, which I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to attend. I learned how to conduct myself around horses, how to manage unexpected situations calmly, and how to relate to wilderness respectfully. Learning how to hitch a pack onto a mule in a grove of pines, or writing in a meadow surrounded by horses made the lessons of this trip some of the most meaningful experiences of my lifetime.”

Tuition Discounts
At Cloud Peak Expeditions, we appreciate it when you help spread the word about the value of our courses. We also want to recognize the loyalty of our repeat students. That’s why we offer a variety of tuition discounts.
Buddy System:
It’s pretty simple: for every friend that you recruit to participate on a Cloud Peak course we’ll discount your own trip by $100.
All in the Family:
Family members of Cloud Peak Expeditions alumni receive a 5% discount on the course of their choice.
Come Again:
Receive a 5% discount on your Cloud Peak tuition when you enroll in your second (or third!) Cloud Peak course.
Wyoming Resident Tuition Discount:
Wyoming residents receive a 5% discount on tuition for all courses over four days. Include a copy of your Wyoming Driver’s License or State Identification Card with your application materials to qualify for this discount.
Student & Teacher Discount:
Our team is made of teachers and we are always learning from our students. We value this relationship beyond words, and are glad to extend a 5% discount to contracted educators and enrolled students.
